Ali Wong, 42, is back for another Netflix standup special and, this time, she’ll be introducing fans to her “divorced mom era,” according to a memo by the streaming service.
Known for her iconic patterned mini dress and baby bump, Wong’s “Single Lady” will drop on Oct. 8, making it her fourth special. In it, she will address everything from her split with her ex-husband Justin Hakuta to dating and finding love as a single parent.
The comedian, who previously starred in “Always Be My Maybe” and “Beef,” was pregnant with her first child during her debut standup special “Baby Cobra” in 2016. She’s since had two children with Hakuta; the couple split in 2022 and divorced earlier this year after 10 years of marriage.
“I’m not single now, but I was single for a long time after I got divorced,” she told Variety last year. “It was so compelling to talk about my life as a single woman. When practicing, I was in the habit of talking as if I was still single. What’s strange is now [my romantic life] is public information.”
“Single Lady” was filmed at the Wiltern in Los Angeles during the “Netflix is a Joke” comedy festival earlier this year.
Wong is now dating fellow comedian and “Saturday Night Live” alum Bill Hader, whom she briefly talked about during one of her shows at the Wiltern, according to Rolling Stone. She shared how she initially struggled with the media attention around her divorce from Hakuta, but then came to embrace it.
“I felt really embarrassed and ashamed, but I didn’t realize that all of these media outlets were acting like a bat signal letting all potentially interested men know,” she said. “I’ve never been pursued this much in my life
