What are the best seats at Coors Field for shade? ›

If you prefer to sit field-level, opt for a seat in the last few rows of sections 128-135. For shade seekers who don't mind sitting higher, the upper rows in sections 330-335 are decent choices. Outfield sections 151-160 and center field sections 401-403 are sun exposed and receive almost no shade during the day.

Best Seats for Rockies Games at Coors Field

Locals claim that seats on the first base side down the line and a few rows toward the inside offer an excellent viewpoint. Another place for a great view is high up in one of the 300s on the third-base side.

As the game progresses, those sitting along the 1st base line closest to the foul pole will be the first to receive some shade. For shade seekers, sections 134-139, 433-436, and 533-537 are the best options.

Any seat in the 300-level (upper deck) should be safe from the sun, no matter the time of day. Because the upper deck is set back from the playing field, it has almost full protection provided by the canopy. Additionally, seats in sections 142-150 and 242-250 should stay sun-free for the entire game.

Fans on the 1st base side of the park between home plate and the right field foul pole are safely shaded. Gradually, seats on the 3rd base line will also receive protection from the sun. The sunniest spot is behind the left field wall, where fans are in the sun for the longest and may experience late-day glare.

The Coors Field Rockpile is famous for being the cheapest seats in the house for a Rockies game.

Preparing For Your Rockies Game

Please arrive early to avoid backups entering the ballpark. Gates A & E open 2 hours prior to first pitch. Gates B, C and D open 90 minutes before first pitch. Backpacks and other multi-pocket bags, including multi-pocket purses, are NOT permitted.

Backpacks and small bags are also allowed inside Coors Field, which was nice to be able to bring in a rain jacket and pack a few snacks and my water bottle for the train ride.

Tickets may be purchased in person at the Coors Field Ticket Office and all Rockies Dugout Stores with a sliding scale of service charges ($1.00 to $7.00) applied. Accepted forms of payment are cash, personal checks, MasterCard, Visa, American Express or Discover.

Redbird club is what you want. Pretty affordable tickets, you'll be in shade and/or AC the whole game if you want. Other than that, you're looking at tickets down the baselines with row numbers as high as possible. Your only chance at shade is to be seated under the section above you.

All Club Box seats are undercover and anchored by an outdoor bar at the back of sections 306 and 307. Guests with a Club Box ticket receive access to the climate-controlled Bally Sports Club to enjoy it's all-inclusive food and non-alcoholic beverages.

In the upper levels, sections 361-372 and 431-454 boast significant overhangs that offer shade to fans seated in the back half of these sections. On the lower levels, the last few rows of each section also benefit from overhead cover. This is particularly true for seats in foul territory on the 1st base side.

Seats in the Shade at Rangers Late Afternoon Games

Fans in upper-level sections 301-314 and mezzanine level sections 103-114 will have the sun at their back and be shaded for most, if not all, of the game. The sunniest seats are along the 1st base line, near the right field foul pole, and behind the right field wall.

While most of the seats in Coors Field are dark green, the seats in the 20th row of the upper deck are purple to mark the elevation of one mile (5280 ft; 1,609 m) above sea level. Coors Field sold out at night.

The two silver seats, located about 10 rows behind the visitors' dugout, are known as the Silver Bullet Seats and are owned by the Coors Brewing Company. These seats are also given away to a pair of lucky fans before each game.

Shade seekers should look for a seat close to home plate at field level or plaza level. Sections 113-121 and 213-221 are usually the best options.
